Certain Trees: the Constructed Book, Poem and Object, 1964-2008
Following on from Colin's Portfolio lecture, have a look at this exhibition at the V+A:
This display of books, objects and constructions reveals an energetic community of poets and artists in Britain discovering and developing the expressive potential of publication as an art practice. The work of the 16 individuals represented here is very diverse, however shared characteristics include brevity, a subtle sense of colour, wry humour, and an unpretentious relationship to art and literature of the past. Some of the works look like quite ordinary books, but their use of mainstream conventions is purposeful, questioning or amused. A poem is a kind of object, and the material character of a book may be its most important message.

Seasons Through The Looking Glass: possible inspiration for our end of year exhibition
Alice's adventures began when she fell into a tunnel that unexpectedly twisted downwards to form a deep well. She landed abruptly on a heap of sticks and dry leaves. This notion of mythical underground spaces is the subject of CJ Lim's installation, a multi-sensory and tactile intervention which explores the spatial possibilities of a subterranean garden.

JELLY
Bompas & Parr creates fine English jellies, designs bespoke jelly moulds and curates spectacular culinary events.
Bompas & Parr is curating a jelly design competition as part of this summer's London Festival of Architecture. The resulting moulds and preparatory material will be auctioned on behalf of Architects for Aid, a charity dedicated to providing building expertise to NGOs and community groups.
The rules:
i) Design how you want the jelly to look, not how the mould will be made
ii) Use any techniques you want to show off your design: drawings, models, renders – there are no restrictions
iii) Provide a 3D cad file in IGES format so that a mould can be fabricated (alternatively include scale drawings)
iv) Maximum size is 15cm in any direction
v) Make sure there are no ‘undercuts’ in the shape as this will prevent the jelly from unmoulding

BUILDING FOR APRIL
Haus F, Kronberg, Germany: A house with a secluded rural plot is the enduring dream of client and architect alike. When Meixner Schlüter Wendt Architekten were approached to create a new structure in an existing orchard, overlooking a picturesque wooded valley, they drew on an unexpected combination of influences, including traditional summer cabins and fighter planes.
