I visited the exhibition «Small Worlds» at the Museum of the History of Science, Broad Street, Oxford as part of my research for the «Open all Hours» project. I was interested in the changes of scale and representing something in a different way. Coming from a large street you feel you have been transported in a completely different world.
The exhibition is about the microscopic world that we cannot see with our bare eyes. I was particularily attracted by a machine that makes a normal picture become such a tiny one that you need a magnifying lense to see it. There are an immense number of things that we cannot see and also there are many ways of showing and displaying them. I felt like Alice in Wonderland.
